GORDON GILTRAP
plays Evesham

Autographed picture of GORDON GILTRAP from Music For The Small Screen

On 4th June 1995 I went to see GORDON GILTRAP perform at the Evesham Arts Centre. This was a charity concert in aid of The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust. This was very interesting as I did not know much of his material, or so I thought.

During the performance I actually recognised quite a few tunes as he has performed many tunes for TV Programmes like the BBC Holiday Programme, Wish You Were Here, and BBC World Bowls, to name but a few. He even tried to fool the audience by saying he was going to play a new tune which he had just written, and then proceeded to play the opening rift of 'Stairway To Heaven'.

At another point in the performance, when he was talking about a piece of equipment called a repeater, he said, "the only problem with this is that all your mistakes are repeated and that when Jazz Musicians make mistakes they repeat them on purpose", to which Nick Smith (whom was one of the people I went with) replied "It's True!".
